How do you guys haul your saws?

I put my 2 saws on a piece of carpet in the box with towels on them to keep the dust off. The dawgs dig into the carpet so they don't move around. I would like to carry them in the cab of truck but I have barrel rolled my truck at about 65 MPH before and the last thing I want are those saws bouncing around at me in the event of an accident/rollover.

In the bed of the truck with a bar cover (Husky Powerbox scabbards). For goodness sake, they are saws. I don't beat on them or intentionally abuse them and I actually like them to look good. But they are a tool, used in the woods, with oil and gas......

exactly what I was thinking... my saws ride in the bed of the truck, not tied down or anything. Put them against the back of the cab and toolboxes and gas cans usually wedge them in place good enough. If the truck is full of wood all the kit gets balanced on top, never lost anything yet!

they're there to work for goodness sake, my hammer doesn't get a nice fancy case and polished at the end of the day why should my saws be any different?

Pozo saloon?! I used to work as a medic at a helispot above Pozo for the enduro races in '85 and '86. It was the last place a four wheel drive could reach. I had a gf at Cal Poly at the time.

Cool...you guys know some of the colorful history in this area...Remember the "Owl's Barn", and the "Old ####" Motorcycle Club?

Been thinking...them east coast guys have great Get-To-Gethers...How about a West Coast GTG?

We find a central spot, lots of wood to cut, camping, cooking...good stuff. Bring saws, stories, family, fun.

I have a bunch of modded worksaws to bring, including a "Snellerized" 880...eat yer Wheaties to run that beast, or it will eat your lunch...

Could be fun...What ya say?

Up the road from Pozo was a place called the Navajo Ranch, probably long gone now. Live there for two years, lots of deer there and some nice bucks came off that ranch, I was going to Cal Poly then.
Bounty Hunter, sounds like you got a nice saw in that 880. Summer is super busy time of year for me but I hope you can get a Western state GTG going with some others. Southside

Thats an LPG tank. LPG is around half the price of unleaded in Oz.

My plastic stihl saw case is barely holding together on it's last hinge. I'll probably just do what i used to do. I always carry a small tarp, so i kind of wrap the saw in the tarp and keep it in place with my racheting bed bar.

I thought that it could be that but you can't see the fill nozzle. How do you fill it up, through the back seat? I can't see lifting that tank once it's full.

I wish LP were cheaper here, it's actually quite expensive. Costs 4.00+ USD a gallon.

The fill nozzle is usually on the outside near the usual filler cap for duel fuel cars. Dedicated LPG cars have a filler nozzle instead of a filler cap - in the same spot.

I use a lump of wood to stop some of the saws falling over and a rubber mat to stop them sliding around.

The red "saw stand" weighs about 60lbs and is rather handy when sharpening the chain, which I do often when cutting this type of wood.

Notice the 346xp in the far corner also has a stand to prevent it from rolling around like a tumble weed lol.

We have a rack made from some spare 2x6s. It fit in the slots of the bedliner of dads yota, but will hold itself still on the fender wells of the Dodge, Chevy, and Ford fullsize. The Dodge also has a rubber bed mat that helps keep them from sliding.

It has 4 or 5 slots cut in it to stick the bars in and holds the powerhead still.
