All saws are dirt cheap in the US - the different brands ask what they think they can get away with on different markets - the connection to production cost is at best vague and distorted......:msp_rolleyes:

If you ever need me to pick up a saw for you and ship it to you, don't hesitate to ask!

Maybe in fantasy land they are selling for 950.00...I paid 638.00 including tax. I think the 460 around here are closer to a grand.

Just outside of Ft.Wayne Indiana the amo's are selling them for 725.00
ok i work in ft.wayne every day, tell me where i can pick-up a 7900 for 725.00, and i will be there tomorrow.

Back when you bought yours, the 7900 was a screaming deal. I remember the day you got yours at Eric's GTG. Too bad you can't still get them that cheap.

I don't think it is possible to buy more saw for the $$$ spent than a 7900.
Mine have been the most trouble free saws I've owned and they are very easy to maintain.
I have run my 2 7900s and my 6400 a LOT and have NEVER had an issue at all with the filtration, AV, starting, or any of the other problems mentioned here.
Buy a good saw, run good fuel and bar oil, keep your chains sharp and your bar de-burred, clean the air filter regularly (not annually) blow them off with an air hose once in a while and any of the saws you are looking at will give you good service.

I fully agree. Nmurph has just put together a 7900 for me. I.m waiting for it to come in the mail right now. When all the cost for this saw is added up it will be $426.00 total!! and my father paid the initial $150.00 at HD for the saw. How in the world are you going to beat that! My dealer support nmurph!! In my experience they aren't worth a hill of beans. And I logged professionally too with lot worse than any of these great saws mentioned. But a grand for a chainsaw. No way! Bob (Cheeves)

Because there are other excellent options out there, and not everyone is as brand biased as you;)

Well, I am not really brand biased at all, but it is no secret that the background stories of many saw models from different brands mainly point in one direction - to the only brand that really care about handling and balance!:laugh:

You know, I picked up a new 372 off the shelf at the Husky dealer the other day and to tell you the truth it really doesn't feel that much different in my hands than my 7300. I have no idea how they would perform against each other but my guess is it would be to close to call. Husky makes a fine saw and everyone is entiltled to their opinion but I paid $650 for my 7300 and they wanted $830 for the new 372. It was a no brainer to me at the time. Now they are much closer in price and maybe I would consider the 372 if I were buying today but I still do not regret buying the Dolmar.
