Things have been pretty tough this last year and I’ve decided to make a change and leave California. What does not fit in my car had to go and that meant my saws needed to be sold. I just sold my last saws today and I feel terrible. I don’t know about anyone else, but sometimes I feel weird about passing on mechanical things. I have this fear like a parent that they will not be well cared for.

I've learned a lot from this site just by searching and I'd like to thank everyone for their help. This site is a great resource.

I hope to be back in the game soon, but I feel this sacrifice will be worth it.

Yeah, I hear ya. Hurts to part with them. I just put my last big saw up on the AS Classifieds today. Buck up, though. Things always change, and often for the better! I left Colorado with everything we could pack into our 1968 International Travelall and moved back to Minnesota about 20 years ago, and things got better. :)

Well, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I have no doubt it will be an improvement in your life in the long run. We'll be watching for your return when you get settled and get back to cutting. :msp_thumbup:

Yup. Know what you mean on that.
Selling out Saws, Old Iron, Tools and guns taint easy.
Some of them rather give than sell.
Hope the move turns stuff right side up for ya.

Man I am real sorry. It is a big loss you having to sell of your'e saw's. I know it would hurt me bad. Remebemer you don't have to have saw's to be a friend of our's, and hang out with us on the site.

Lost all my guns, except my 870, and saws except my 032 in '87. Got most of them back except the 44 Husky and a sweet double barrel 20g and then some. Keep the faith. One door closes, another one opens.

Absolutely!

That was me in '88. All saws and guns gone. OUCH!

We just gotta push forward with faith and optimism. :)

Best of luck, wherever you land. They are just machines, regardless of how attached to them we get, and they can be replaced. There's gonna be an awful lot of people on the move in the coming years.

Ah, was there in 90......put up my o/u shotguns for sale.....sold my Weatherby Athena and my Winchester Diamond Grade 20.......and then had enough money for the time being to not sell the others. I only had two saws and couldn't sell them if I wanted to. I don't miss that Weatherby much, it was pretty to look at, but kicked like a team of mules, that little winchester though............that I still kick myself in the ass for selling.

You gotta do what ever it takes...........best of luck to the OP.

Good Luck to ya'
Was 88' for me.Things were real bad.Packed up a new wife and my Bulldog in a wagon and headed south to Va. Beach for 2 years to sort things out.Best move I ever made.Times were tight for awhile to say the least, but I'm here in the Shenandoah mountains and wouldn't trade it for nuthin'.

Material things come and go.Follow your heart man and you'll be okay.

do u have any idea where ure going, maybe one good thing u could end up somwhere close to ure freinds on here,,and we could help get u going again good luck man ,,,dave

That sucks man. I spent 12 years in the army, always moving. Stuff comes and goes. Be thankful for your health and loved ones. Work hard and you'll get more saws. Keep hanging out here to keep the fire burnin.

Myarmistired, let me know where you land, I'll send you a saw so you don't feel naked.

I will be relocating to Fargo, ND. The job market in California is tuff and it don’t matter if your blue or white collar. I just want regular work again and ND seems like the place.

The generosity of this forum always amazes me. While I appreciate the offer I don’t think I’ll need a saw for a while. Maybe a good ice scraper.

Good luck - things will change for the better if you let them. My bad year was '76 and I almost lost heart but life has a way of working out. Looking back, I would never change a thing about that time. It was hard but the hard lessons didn't hurt me.
Hang in there.

What's in Fargo? Petroleum industry?

A lot of guys here have had the ups and downs. I think it's the hard times that seem to give birth to the most interesting stories and the most recalled memories.

I was working on the oil spill last year on the gulf coast. I met a rig worker who'd arrived two months before with everything he owned in two suitcases. He'd lost everything in a fire in New Jersey and made a fresh start on one of the big offshore rigs. In two months' time, co-workers had helped him get a place to live and a car to drive. He'd made enough to start getting back on his feet. We talked quite a bit, I liked chatting with him because he was just happy being alive and having any job.

Myarmistired, best of luck in your move and changes. There may be times when you are really struggling, like sitting up all night worrying about how you are going to be able to keep going, but hang in there. Bust your butt, and keep at it. It is times like these that make us men(or women) and they are the beginning of some awesome success stories. Hang in there, and don't forget about us on here. I would send you a saw also, but I only have 2 runners, and you don't need any project saws right now.

Nick
