It's used for our campsite and fireplace wood. You can just about put it in a trunk. I set it in my trailer so I don't have to pick the wood up again. It's not a toy.
The incredible light weight and portability are both marvelous. Seems like the slow cycle time is its biggest drawback. Replace the pump with a 2-stage 11 GPM and this Brave splitter might run twice as fast with the same power and no other enhancements required. The splitter I run today has a 3" cylinder and a 2-stage 11 GPM pump. I'm also getting about 16 tons with a 6 HP motor that I usually run at half speed or less.
I'd really like to hear others on our forum comment on this pump upgrade possibility.
For around $2500 there's only one splitter I'd buy, a Super Split!
I'm thinking seriously about a SS and a conveyor this year... Next step? Full on processor...
Can you still get a SS for 2500?
Matt, mine came to a bit over $2800 with shipping.
Looks like prices haven't gone up any since I bought.
I'll have it at the next gtg, but we need to use it more than last time!
And, I'll bring over the elm crotch and some "straight" elm with spiral grain that nobody can identify. Both make good campfires. We can all drink a snort after Super Split stalls out after 30 slams.I'll bring the Hedge...
J.W. wanted some anyway...
