Actually it is the stem of the plant much like celery only different.
When raw it is sour.
But cook it down, add a little sugar and WOOOO WEEE! Is that stuff good!

Oh, man, my mom made the best raisin cream pie and her rhubarb pie was amazing.

My grandma made the absolute best homemade yeast rolls, cabbage rolls, coconut pie with mirange (sp?) 6" tall. Everything she made was awesome. Used "REAL" butter and "REAL" lard.
Heck, she could toast a piece of bread better than any I've ever seen.
Sadly, she can barely remember who I am at times.

Sadly, she can barely remember who I am at times.
You guys are killing me. My Aunt Bee, (yep really) was one of the finest ladies I ever knew........Alzheimer's took her mind away. Saddest thing I ever saw.
Spent the weekend at my mom's side family reunion. An absolutely great group of people that I love dearly. But the shadow over the whole weekend is no matter how long she lives, I'll never get to talk to her again, only the shell of who she was.
And my poor dad is determined to take care of her, having watched his mother take 13 years after she stopped recognizing him to finally pass away. I can't fathom what this is like for him.
And all this because somebody mentioned pie.
So, I've got it on both sides and a TBI to boot. My neurologist says my chances are very "good". Will one of you promise to shoot me?
And no, Aaron, you can't have my 166.
Sorry for the hijack.
