oil can

Yes all the 12-25's should have the external oil can.

I was just told that the 1225a had two early # one that had a name plate that was marked (1225) , had no oil tank .
The ones marked 1225a had oil tanks and provisions to add oil tanks :msp_mellow:

The only reason I can think of for no oiler might on the shorter saws. Cant really imagine running one without some source of oil.

Since the 1225 oiler is only a squirt can and hose anyway if it was not there then they must have had to carry
a squirt can and drop the saw or have the kid squirt as they cut.

The old cross cut guys had a kid sitting on the log to lube their blade so in 1948 they were use to having to add oil by other means.

Being around the V8 saws alot I got to run the squirt can for them a few times.

Camera in one hand a oil can in the other. :msp_thumbsup:

I'm not sure but i think some of the origional 20"bow saws didn't have a source of oiling either i see the bow frame Wayne Edmunds bought off ebay Australia wasn't drilled for the oil fitting

Nice picture.

As for the scratcher, I'm no expert at all but when Chris brought his over here the first time with the scratcher that he sharpened, I was surprised and impressed with how well it cut.

Good to hear mark. the saw doesnt have much speed but the torque is unbelievable. i really want to see what it can do with some good chain.
