Lol.... it is a lil disappointing for the price of the saw and it is my step dad's so its up to him. He said he didn't care but he has had the creamsickle flu for the last 12 years and I want to train him to expect top quality out pf Sweden!

Just saying...

If that was my Dad's first Jonsered saw in an attempt to Convert him from Stihl...... I wouldn't accept that saw. You bought it local- was it unpacked in the store? or did you bring it home and unpack it? I can see the dealer having a leg to stand on if you "accepted" it there.... but if I opened that "unopened" box at home- holy hell would break loose.

We have been offered these saws thru our distributor at a discounted price. Don't know they ended up this way but Husky would rather sell them as-is than put a new tank on them.
Good business: Why replace them all for $XX when you can hope people just keep them- if half of folks just ignore it you only pay $X in replacements. Not very nice, but that's big companies for you.

the 2253 I had that came out of TN I think had the nice correct pretty red plastic, A friend of mine ran it, and had to have it so he bought one at the local dealer and it came multicolor with a maroon handle. It didn't bother him, we just figured it was how the new ones were being made.

ive seen several of these with the maroon handle. I have had about 7 of them come thru my store. theres nothing wrong with the tank itself, it is just a color variation. I have been able to get them replaced when the customer really could not deal with it. the only ones I have seen happen to be 2253's. no other saws have had it. theres also no certain group of saws such as xxx serial number to xxx serial number. its random as to what saws got that off color tank. as long as jonsered will replace it the dealer should get paid for doing it. like I said earlier its common on that saw I have had a few of them. ive sold probably 20 of those saws and 7 had the dark tank.

Can they be bought at a discounted price?

Just talked to our local dealer he's going to call on Monday and find out what he can do. We did accept delivery of the saw and like I said before it does not hinder the performance of the saw whatsoever. I hate to see jonsered be the laughing stock of the chainsaw community tho.

I work in the aircraft parts industry and if something isn't right it gets rejected destroyed and disposed of, when Jonsered saw the first wrong color tank why didn't they reject them destroy them and dispose of them.

Bc lives are not at stake with a mismatched saw. Aircraft- the loss of life- destroyed families, lawsuits etc is too great a risk. Different standards. I totally see your point though- Manufacturers have quality standards that must be met. I cant believe they sent those out the door and are basically forcing them on customers. If I buy another one- I will be "accepting" it at the sales counter. No way will I have one shipped and take the risk. Those that are selling on here should open and inspect (if they dont already- I dont know) and then disclose what they find to their buyer.

It's not different than the red tanks on 390s a few years back. They were almost the jonsered color coming on the huskies.

Yes sir you are correct. My point was quality acceptance not comparing chainsaws to loss if life parts. I hope the other dealers out there and on here let Jonsered how they feel. We accepted it in the dealership and he did tell us on the phone that it was off color.

I am not mad at anyone in anyway just kinda disappointed in Jonsered letting that out the door in such a competitive market.

Would you buy a 261cm with a brown tank??
