I acquired the nicest 026 I've seen yet today. I simply love these things, and my jaw dropped when the old man I bought it from picked it up off the shelf. At that point it didn't matter how much he wanted, it was going home with me. He said he used it a few times to trim some hedges.

Yep, there's a couple chips here and there, probably from banging around on the shelf in the garage. And the bottom has the usual wear associated with being set on a concrete driveway. I bet this saw has less than 5 hours total run time on it after talking with the older gentleman that owned it.

Just got done taking a closer look.

It's got a clear tank on it, a wt-194 carb, and the piston has perfect factory machine marks.

Does anyone know what year stihl switched to the 194 carb?

How old is your saw ?

Here's a pic of the one that started my venture into chainsaw madness. It's an 026 pro with a wt-194, and a 16 inch tsumura bar. It's still my go to saw. Just found a heated handle kit for it. Can't wait.

I don't know how old the one I picked up today is. I'm assuming it can be looked up via the serial# though.

Nice saw whiskers. I picked my nice one up from the original owner. He used it to cut up an apple tree and put it away. I picked it up from his retirement / moving sale. The only sign of use is from the exhaust by the outlet.View attachment 324960

Nice saw, I always wonder why someone would spring for a nice pro saw just to use it once. The one I got today was from a newly retired guy who was downsizing.

Some people Learn at an early age to buy quality once or junk three times over to get the job done once. It saves a tremendous amount of aggravation.

Saw looks very nice. How did you come across it?

A guy contacted me through one of the local ads I run. Every once in a while someone contacts me with something good.

I bought one new in the box 3 or 4 years ago. Kept it a while and sold it to another member. There were some pictures of it, but they might be gone now.

Did you find it at a dealer or someone had one?
