Meanwhile - this is starting to go from bad to really tits up. Several houses lost last night. And it's on the edge of a lot of stuff you really don't want to burn.
It's going to be a national scale disaster before I lose my place, but it's going to be a really bad day for a lot of people.
Good old 30+ at dawn and 25knot winds type of day.

Same here. Been blowing hard since 2am. Not a good start to the year! Could get ugly here.

What make it worse is that the fire was started by some fu**wit using an incinerator, 2 CFS volunteers have lost their homes.

Just had a friend evacuate earlier at Montacute near Adelaide. She only left our place yesterday morning. Haven't been able to get hold of her today and her other half is currently in New Guinea for work.

It isn't as Far East as Montacute Matt. If she was heading towards town it should be all good. I've just left mine, I still think it would be safe enough - but I don't care enough about things to stay.
Embers are raining on gumeracha and they've said it's unsafe to leave. That's 5 minutes drive and all scrub and farms away.

How's the excavator going big fella?

l feel for all the residents in danger from wildfires. Good to see killa & mcw posting as things are not that good watching the news ect. These fires are unfortunately part of our way of life. Everything outside is so so dry and with the winds sometimes you wonder what a few humans with water hoses in trucks can actually do, but it sounds like they are doing a brilliant job. A few spot fires have been reported down here too around Geelong. There is only really one road out of town where l am (great ocean road) but the open ocean is close which is good.

Well, here's me leaving this particular cat-hating thread for good. If any of you dare to come here and shoot my cat on or off my property, I will legally and rightfully put two in your chest and one in your head with any number of weapons in my arsenal and send your sorry ass carcass home to Oz in a pine box.
Rules on my family farm are......if it does'nt give milk...we shoot it. lf you really understood the damage them bastard maingy cats do over here......arhhh...forget it.

She's been told to leave but she is up Institute Road which is one way in, one way out. Probably one of the biggest deathtraps I've seen if fires are around. Spoke to her before and she's in at get parents towards the city.
We got one tree down and some other limbs this morning but got too windy and dangerous and the excavator blew a hydraulic line. I dropped the one hanging over that shed. Took the whole tree down as one and missed everything :)
We'll finish them off another weekend.

Hey don't worry about me mate. I'm 220km away and no chance of a bushfire getting me. Andrew (Weedkilla) is in the thick of it though. Apparently it was started by somebody using an incinerator. Wanker.

I know institute rd.... Funnily enough I've sprayed weeds up there.

Be the last place to be, no matter what way the wind was blowing! It's swung around to a sou'wester now, so I'll head home soon.
