Had this 2245 for about a month. Probably ran 8 or 9 tanks though her. Just sharpend the chain and made about 2 dozen cuts when the chain flew off. Now that chain no longer turns on the bar but the other one dose. And the chain brake no matter how much I fiddle with it will not unlock. Handle moves freely and won't unlock. Gunna take it back to tsc tommorw. Might try an echo maybe. Something in the 45-55 cc range. Any suggestions? My stihl dealer is also an echo dealer. Around 3-400 doller range. He dosnt carrie the Timberwolves eather. Dosnt like them.

check the chain to see if there are small deformations on the links... after a chain flys off it gets damaged and needs to be polished down a bit to get it to ride right in the bar.

take the clutch cover off and gets some pics of the chainbrake mechanism... its likely an easy fix... don't toss a fine running saw when something is easy to fix

It's not so much that I don't wanna fix the saw. It's that it had a problem so early in its life. I no there just farm and ranch grade saws buy my ms391 cut 50 cords in a year and a half without issue. And in my opinion the cluch isn't big enough on the 2245. Keeps stopping in the cut if I work it to hard.

the chain issue is not the saws problem... chains fall off, and get messed up...

the chainbrake might be a warrantee issue, perhaps not, until you post pics nobody on here can tell if its somehow user error or something is broken

clutch too small? you didn't mention that in your list of gripes to start with, but if this saw is like my husky 350's ... then I know exactly what clutch you have, and it is meant to slip when the saw runs out of power, so it doesn't stall the saw. it isn't a big saw, 16" bar is about it... imho. even then as a stock saw burying it in oak is not its forte.... your 391 is quite a few sizes bigger, and not comparable in any way

buy a echo cs 590 and forget about it. it is more saw than anything you can buy at tsc.

I realize that is no comparison. I got the 2245 to replace my 028 witch is dieing a slow death. And it dose cut circles around the 028. It was suppose to be a backup saw but I liked it so much I used it alot more then though I would. I probably will pick up the 590. Question is I no its close to my 391, was looking more for a backup saw. Should I look at a smaller echo or just get the 590?

the 590 is 399.95 look at this video when it goes against a ported ms 361

Echo 500P is a nice saw If you are interested in something small and light.

ok.... wait wait wait... lets address 1 thing at a time. #1, you are dissappointed in your 2245 even though it "runs circles" around your 028. It has a few issues only 1 month after owning it, only 1 of which might be a warrantee issue, and it might be so cheap to fix that it isn't worth warrantying it.

so why are you getting rid of it again?

do you want other saws? there are plenty other threads describing lots of different saws for different needs, but if you want to address your original issue, then lets address that before you jump ship to another saw in the same thread.

I use my 350's 90% of the time....they are light and cheap to fix, and yes they break....but at least they are really inexpensive to fix.

I gusse I'm just not happy with the saw and wanna try an echo maybe. I also hate the cluch setup. I only put the chain on 4 times but it's a pain if you ask me. I'm gunna try an echo and see if I'm happier with it. The saw is still returnable and I'm sure they will fix it and it will make someone else happy. I'm liking that 590. Gunna see if my dealer has it cause I hate having high doller products shipped to me. May end up keeping the 2245. Don't no yet

I cut 167 full cords last year with my 445. About 80 the year before that. 60 the year before that. I have replaced 3 sprockets. One throttle cable and one new carb. That's it........ My 445 has went above and beyond what they advertise it to do. Never one problem with one bar nut ever. In case you are wondering the 445 is the orange version of your 2245.

He doesn't like the Timber Wolf CS-590 because????
I'm guessing the profit margin on it is slimmer than on other models.

I'm also guessing that TSC has a replace-don't-repair policy?

How are you cutting wood if the chainbrake is locked???
The chain jumped off in a cut. Witch it was tensioned right. After determing the chain was messed up I put a spare chain on and at the point the chain brake is no longer workjng. And yes tsc will sadly take anything back. I had a buddy buy boots, walk outside, put his old boots in the box and return them... thinking about getting another jonsered. The 70cc one with a 24 inch bat maybe

I don't buy it that the chain was tensioned right. Even if it was, something else was loose. Lets diagnose that FIRST, before tossing the saw back to TSC.

If you want to buy another saw of any color go for it, but lets find out exactly why you don't like this one. It'll possibly save you $$, save you aggrivation, someone will learn something, and TSC won't get stuck with a used saw that is totally fine.
