Are you saying Dolmar Inc stepped in and pulled the plug on the Bailey thing?

We had a guy over in Maryland rolling Stihl out the door using e-bay. Seems he got a wake up call from Stihl Inc. He's no longer doing it. Can't sell products without a supplier of the product.

I have no inside info but I suspect Bailey will have a hard time buying more Dolmar saws themselves. This is not taken lightly.

I agree Sedanman, they are the bomb. Courteous, quick and competitively priced not to mention they have things you can't find anywhere else, at least not around here. I send them a lot of mail order business and enjoy every transaction!

WOW, can't believe what I am seeing and reading...

I guess Dolmar needs more Brick and Mortar dealers that don't carry the full line and don't stock any parts.

Bailey's would have moved a few saws, and probably carried a ton of the most common parts.

Guess it is much better for the B&M Dealers to not stock parts, have to order them and wait two months. Just got my 7900 Starter decal that was ordered back in october.. Good thing I didn't need that right away....

It would have been nice to finally gets some parts into the US, that aren't backordered. If Dolmar doesn't get they're head out of there azz on the parts and customer service..they are gonna lose people

guess that is better for the B&M dealers too, right?

Awwwwwwwww ok, well if so good for Dolmar. You, Cuttinscott, Spike, Sugar and many others have spent your own money and promoted Dolmar for sometime now. You shouldn't be forced to compete with online sellers after all that. Nothing againist Bailey's, they are a huge ligit business but Dolmar has to draw the line to who it caters to and to whether it will stand behind those that have stood with them. Looks like they have and good for them.

That operation over in Maryland took one phone call to get it shut down. Stihl stood behind its dealers in a hurry....

'Stang, Come to my store and see what I stock, then say that dealers "dont stock ANY parts". If you crush any new Dolmar that's worth fixing, I have the parts in stock to fix it, I draw the line at stocking crankcases and crankshafts. If I don't have it in stock, it's a day or 2 away usually. Sometimes parts are back ordered from Dolmar then even the late great Bill Bailey(May he rest in peace) wouldn't be able to get you one any faster than I could. Did the little decal keep your saw from running?

Sedanman, you are the exception and not the rule. You surely do a great service to your customers, but again the exception.

I am as frustrated with the saw shops around here as I am with the new car dealers. Policy is policy. If Greg knew the rules he would not have broke them. If it wasn't just miscommunication anyways. He is as stand up as you are Sedanman.

I like Bailey's, but I'm glad to see them (or did) advertising Dolmars at list prices. looks like Dolmar wasn't giving them better deals, like husky is (bad for) known to do. I can buy a husky and have it shipped from Bailey's cheaper than my local dealer can get them. Don't think that nonsense doesn't hurt husky's dealers either. again, nothing against Bailey's.
Maybe Dolmar will go the route of stihl. I see ads online for stihls but no price, no order option. sold at the dealers place of buisness only.

Paul, You are one of the few. Scott and Steve are the others. you guys seem to be the only guys that carry full line parts and seem to be able to get parts in a timely fashion. I would love to have one of you guys as my local dealer

FWIW, I have a Great local dealer. He has been selling them for a couple years now, and he has a problem getting parts. But, when he has to order parts, he orders extras.

My decal did not keep my saw from running, but when I ordered a 7900 piston/cylinder for my makita, it did keep my saw from running. It took 8 weeks to get to him...

my 5100 muffler took 9 weeks. The 7900 muffler took just shy of two months also.

As much as I don't like Ben Walker trashing the dolmar name, he is right with their parts situation. The Distribiution centers only seem to carry air filters and spark plugs...Seems they ought to carry more hard parts. If I smashed my saw and needed new plastic and a handle bar......

I honestly can't imagine relying on my pair of dolmars if they were the only ones I had . Saws that get used need parts every now and then. I love them, and praise them for what they are, but if they break, I would be out of commission for quite a while.

Like I said, I would love to have one of these stocking dealers locally, but it took going to 7-8 dealers before I found one that carried the 5100 and 7900....

Good point Stang, if you were just beginning to cut your fire wood for the year and all you had in your quiver was Dolmars and you ran over one or two and it took them out needing parts,,, other than your decal you would be hosed and froze waiting for 8 weeks with your parts situation:censored:

Just to note, the mufflers did not keep my saw from running, as they were used to get modded. But if I had smashed the saw and needed the muffler to be up and running....I'd been up **** creek...

That is why one must own a couple Stihl's, a couple husky's and a couple Dolmars....

If you can't get dolmar parts there is another option. You can go to a makita repair center and order the equivalent makita part. They may have it in stock at one of their region parts facilities/hubs. I ordered a few things for my 6401 from local makita repair shop and they got it out of Chicago within a week or two max.

If Makita is dropping all but the 6401 this option may not work for the other saws. They may still have some parts for the other saws in stock though. Worth a try if you need something in a hurry. They can always check on supply with a phone call to the regional parts hub.

I'm in that boat right now, I live in Michigan, closest dealer for me is 30 miles, called him yesterday to check hours "we might have one 5100 in stock". Thanks, I'm gonna blow a good part of my morning driving to his store to maybe see one saw?

I have a real woodie for that 5100 right now, but it's starting to look like getting one is gonna be a pain. I can't wait to see what price he is asking. If the saw is gonna be trouble getting, can't wait till I need a part. Hopefully I am wrong.

Stocking Stihl dealer is 5 minutes from the house, nice guy, good shop, I just really wanted to give the Dolmar a chance. Maybe the 5100 is not meant to be, we will see in a few hours. KD

Hey Bigbore
How does that 5100s stack up to the 028Super?
My 028S is my favorite firewood saw and I'm looking at getting a 5100s.
