Well I was going to wait until I had this big saw sorted out, but I couldn't help but post it up. This is a machine that I have been trying to find for a number of years and haven't been able to get hold of one until earlier this week.
The saw is a McCulloch 895C and is the last of the big gear drive saws from the company. The saw differs from the standard 895 in that it has a poppet type decomp valve, and a larger chrome bore 105 cylinder. The cylinder cover is the same as the SP105/125 saws and the muffler cover is also identical to the SP105/125 saws, however the front of the cover is cut off to allow it to fit with the gear drive R/H recoil assembly.
I will remove the non std handle, recoil, falling spike and hand guard assy before replacing these with the correct parts. The saw will be returned to its proper configuration.
That is super cool Chris, I believe you are the only one that has one. Randy Mac told of once handling one at a dealer long ago. I've toyed with the idea of making a reproduction one myself.

I am putting this 895C up as my rarest McCulloch chainsaw as it is the only one I have ever seen.View attachment 555059 View attachment 555060

Thanks Gents. It is interesting that there hasn't been more of these saws come to light. You see more of the Model 49 about than these machines. I guess the big gear drive had gone out of favour in these latter stages of their production runs.

Anybody know anything about the super 10-10a saw, not the late 57cc version but an earlier version right hand start, fuel tank and top cover like the later style one. Are they any different from the regular 10-10a

I have both and from what I can see the only difference I can see is the color. I have not tried to line up the screw holes in the flywheel cover and see if they are the same as the pull starter but I would bet they are the same. I need a cover for mine also because someone must have stripped the screw holes out at some point and put bigger bolts in place of the small counter sunk screws that fit on it. They also drilled out the cover holes to accommodate the larger bolts.

Tim, that is what i thought so i figured i would ask to confirm. This piece of !!!! the usual, customer brought it in with non existing fuel/primer lines, broken primer bulb etc. Replaced everything and the saw ran great for testing etc. later today went to verify all was good and she would not idle or throttle up. Started right up though. BS thanks again.

I'm new to McCulloch. Can someone help me with the model # on this one? I figured with the full wrap and .404 chain that it is at least one of the 99ccer's but not sure if it could be larger. The stamps on the bottom read 10316 with 16 underneath and a "K" in the middle. The bar measures out at 27" and has the .404 McCulloch chain. I look it over and do not think it was painted. I think it is just a really clean saw.
Thanks for your help!

That is a beauty. Nice score!

Thanks guys!!! From looking at all of the 6+ cube McCulloch pictures and vids I could only find that the Super 797 had the yellow filter cover but was not sure if there were other saws that may have. Thanks for confirming! I couldn't pass it up for the price that I worked out over the phone. Drove a hour, couple drops of mix strait in the cylinder, gave it a couple light pulls - it popped a couple times - handed the guy the cash and brought it home. Will order a carb kit and time to start looking for an IPL and manuals.

I finally made the 6 cube club!

Nice saw! I have a similar one that is 123cc, but it needs a lot more work than yours.
