Trying to explain chain to someone on east coast is like talking to a brick wall ,they don't get it and wont listen because all their shops carry is .050 in round grind. So they think that's all there is. Next they will say the wrap handle gets in the way cutting stumps.
Awww yes maybe if we did roulette timber falling we'd understand short bars on large saws.

Wow just wow why the hate for the East Coast do you need to talk down to us to make you feel big ?

I’m glad you like the set up you’re running that doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone and I think your misleading somebody that is still trying to figure out what he’s doing

It has nothing to do with stupidity. I'm more than happy to take advice from seasoned pros. For most of us, it's more about convenience. We don't have the monster trees you guys deal with. Also, the logging "business" is totally different here. Very seldom will you find a shop that caters to the logging industry. It's just not here. We're pretty much stuck with buying from the local lawnmower shops' limited offerings or online purchase.

Just curious Trx, Your saying the entire east coast? They dont log in Main? Upper NY, Vermont?.....any where on the east coast. Wow you must be the Luke skywalker of logging on the West Coast. And besides logging what about the guys dropping some huge oaks and Locusts and Maples and every other variety in between on a daily basis on the "east coast"? I am FAR from a logger but see daily the tree trucks running down the road with a loaded 4 axle with 20 sticks piled high.......but he must of just came from the pier after they were imported from the "west coast"

Not trying to put down the east coast ,i used to live there myself ,just saying if more stuff was available to you locally ,you could have better equipment ,and work more efficiently ,walking behind a tree doing a back cut seems dangerous to me with a short bar ,i have had trees barber chair and that's the last place i want to be ,with a longer bar you can make all your cuts from one spot and be quicker and safer at the same time .It just gets old hearing guys say their 461 ot 660 will only pull a 20 inch bar on this site because the wood is too hard .When it is most likely their chain setup making the saw load too much .

There's nothing like trying to out cut an alder that's going up the hill that's a place for a long bar with a good chain.

I need to send ya some oregon bar wrenches ,they sit in the scrench holder a little better than those Stihl offsets ,they clear the handle fine .Plus if they fall in the brush you can find them most of the time .

Easy there Trx, I’m sort of close to the east coast, I use square ground.
