Now that I got your attention :D

That's what we could be reading about if we all write to Poulan and tell them how much we liked their older saws like the 3300/PP 330 etc. If people say that they want a saw that will compete with the Husqvarna 350, Stihl MS-250 and Echo CS-520, Poulan will produce. The only reason they make cheap saws is because that's what is selling the most right now.

Here is the address to write to:

Husqvarna Outdoor Products Inc
1030 Stevens Creek Rd
August, GA
30907

I don't see it happening rather than tool up to make more saws for poulan and since husky owns them they would probably rather just sell more 350s. It makes more sense for them to just keep making the weed eaters and little green saws. If you want a big saw then by the Husky or maybe Husky might put some green or yellow plastic on the 350 offer it for 50 bucks less and call it a poulan pro? I can see that happening.

So given that fact it would seem like a great time for Poulan to jump back into the pro market. Yeah.

Poulan/Homelite/McCulloch, they're all done as manufacturers of quality power equipment. Sorry, but I think this is true. They make plenty of money selling to HD/Lowes/Sears idiots and can do so without any parts distribution network costs, so there is no reason to dump that market for the oversaturated pro market that actually requires that parts and service be readily available.

same thing happened with winchester guns, they built guns that were crap, then the company that owns browning bought them and now they make a Qualify product again. They still have a walmart grade gun . be they also make a high end product.

I'm not saying that Poulan should abandon selling cheap saws, it's making them good money. But I just think that they should start selling higher grade consumer products as well. It was only a few years ago they sold the 3300 which was a decent saw. 55cc, chainbrake, chromed cylinder, and decent power output to drive an 18" bar. The closest they have now is the 4620avx which isn't all that great. It has cruddy anti-vibe springs that are so wimpy when you activate the chainbrake it moves the whole saw around and it has a crappy no tools chain tensioner made almost completely of plastic.

I'd be happy if they sold a 345 in green or gold and yellow plastic for $50 cheaper than the Husqvarna counterpart.

I got me one of those 4620 av the price was right:clap: That quick bar adjust is a total piece of ****So I did this to it plus it was set way too lean.

How's that workin' for ya?
Good so far did the usual muffler mod and put a front tensioner in it. It's my truck saw. Now I am always worried about leaving a saw in my truck even with a locked topper on just in case someone wants my saw more than me.
The chain it came with the Oregon 33 .325 was crap I put some Woodsman pro on it and it is great just have to find a shorter bar for it 20'' is a bit optimistic I have lots of poulan/ small husky bars but they are all 3/8th low profile nothing in .325 so I might just have to see if I cant get a 16'' cheapy from bailey's for it.

The fact is that my Poulan Pro 295 mod saw will out cut most 55 cc saws. It acts more like a Husky Xp saw than a Poulan Pro. I think orange plastic is over rated anyways. I actually prefer to use blue saws, but my pp is a screamer.

What'd you do for mods?

For the most part, The general population is not concerned with quality or service, Just the purchase price. I think we'll will lose the pro saws we have before we get any back.

If we couldnt keep mobil making 2T, or anyone else to make a short run of 1/2 in chain, we will never be able to get anybody to keep making or make anything. Sure would be nice if we could though, think of all the cool toys!

Last year my dad bought 2 new Poulan Pro 4620AVX saws for the place he works for, at their request. They wanted 2 good saws on hand in case of a Hurricane and they had to cut their way out of the driveway...lots of large overhanging limbs.

They gave him a 400 dollar limit..so he bought the 2 PP's.

They asked me to set em up.

I unboxed one, put the bar and chain on...gotta love that POS tensioner eh?..Added fuel mix, and bar oil. I pulled the rope and it stayed out. I took the recoil off and checked it out...the "shock absorbing" spring in the recoil bound up and broke the recoil all up inside...so I drained the gas, oil and put it back in the box.

The 2nd one, I prepped it the same way, and after some pulling, it fired up...idled rough, but ran. I let it warm, and gave it some gas. I checked out the bar oil spray on the concrete and there was none...then I saw the puddle coming out from the side of the saw. The oiler housing was cracked and leaking...great. BACK IN THE BOX...

So they went back, and he got 2 new Echo CS-370's.

Unpacked both, put on the bars and chains. Added mix, and oil...both fired on the 3rd pull, idled down great and ran perfect, both oiled perfect.

Price was 270.00 ea.

The catch was he HAD to buy from Home Depot..so his options were slim. So far, the Saws are still running like new.

Hopefully you are having better luck with your PP saws than I did...I like my PP 260 and 220, good maneuverable little saws.

reminiscent of the Harley Davidson / AMF saga some years ago. Now Harley is on top of the world.

I've had great luck with my little Craftsman (Poulan 2250) as well as my father's 2375. Both start 2nd or 3rd pull and run great. My 2250 has 100+ hours on it and his 2375 has about 50 hours on it.

It's not competition Husky own's the yellow and black saw's as well as the Green ones just a different market.

Bingo. Although now I care a whole lot less about how the saw is badged. I do like buying American made products, and that was why I originally wanted one badged as a "Poulan" - one of the last USA chainsaw companies still in business.

No problem with that I happen to like my Poulans, I also happen to own some old American Muscle No Replacement for Displacement:chainsaw: Variety is the Spice of life!
I sold my Stihls Now I have to get another one.
