My wife has ESP or something when it comes to my bigger purchases. So I am pretty leery of hiding buying something big, as if she finds out later it is worse.

Though as someone pointed out earliers, once you have enough saws then they don't notice one more of the same color.

Actually my wife is pretty good about it, and is actually pushing me to buy a bigger saw (~120cc). I think then she feels better about the money she spends on her trips overseas...

How dare you !!!! What kind of people do you think you are dealing with here

I find that my saw purchases cost me twice what I pay for them, as the wife will go out and spend that amount on clothes or something...

Shared accounts are a b1tch:givebeer:

maybe i should do more cashies :)

I don't have anyone to hide anything from. But I also don't have enough money sitting around for cool stuff like new saws. Although I would love a new 359XP.

I just hid one today.

I got the wife a Dolmar 401 for her birthday, along with chaps, helmet, gloves, and a grandbaby-approved chewable Dolmar cap. I had to keep that stuff under wraps for awhile.

Today I picked up a 440. The plan is to keep this one for my grandbaby, so it's hid from me and my can of mix... both of us saw where we hid it, so maybe that's cheating? :dizzy:

I took a few pix, ripped a CD with the pix, paperwork and PDF manuals and put it away for now. Before it gets mothballed, it'll have a chain catcher kit and a 460 DP cover... then away it goes for a long nap.

Hid!

Hidin' crap from wives is childish. If she is hidin' stuff from you as well... then you both got problems.

Main reason I got divorced... ex-wife was "hidin'" stuff from me. Mainly an affair...

Not worth it... good luck... y'all are gonna need it.

I did mechanic work out of the garage for a long time. It paid very well and in cash. It was great until she figured out how much I was making ans spending on the race car. She wanted a cut. Wife number 2 didn't know what to say when I told her she needed to drive me to Springfield (200 miles away) to meet a guy that weekend. I told her I had just bought a dodge diesel with a dump bed and we had to pick it up that was 8k. She would be happy if it was just a chainsaw. I'm not loaded by any means I do ok. But a chainsaw is something to make money with. I don't think dropping $400-700 on a saw is a big deal. I buy a couple every year or so. I buy a new saw run it for a year or 2 and sell it on e-bay. I'm going to sell my 346xp next fall. It should bring $250-300. I'll buy another one for $450 or less shipped to my door. So that saw will cost me $150-200 to use for 2 years. I don't have to worry about repairs and it getting old. To me that is damn near a free tool.

Sorry to get of track

No need to hide anything at my house. My wife is cool about gear, most of the things we do, we share the same hobbies. (skiing, scuba diving, sea kayaking, bicycling and backpacking). So she's as familiar with any of the outdoor gear as I am.

I'm really into canoeing and multiple day canoe camping trips (she doesn't really care for canoeing). She knows that if I need canoe related stuff, I research it pretty carefully before buying anything.

Same with chainsaw stuff (she doesn't care at all) , again, she knows that I research any purchases very carefully. Plus I make money with the saw stuff, so she doesn't care about any purchases I make. She was suprised at how much a chainsaw cost. :)

She shoots also. So she bought me a Ruger Alaskan .454 Casull a few months ago to take on any fishing or canoe camping trips.

My wife is very cool....so why would I hide any purchases from her.

years ago, we decided that small purchases ($20 or so) weren't a big deal, but anything much above that needed to be discussed first.

Works at our house.

Not me............

My wife understands that it is my hobby, and relatively inexpensive compared to others. And since I normally buy junk saws and fix them, I could more than likely get more money for them than I have invested.

Hmmmm........

Let's see .......it's my money....I pay all the bills...........She has plenty of money.........
Why would I have to hide anything........
If you do, then you need to grow some cahonies' (SP) You know Brass Balls.
