Getting ready to leave for the cabin for opening day within 1/2 hr.
MechanicMatt, his Dad, his Sister, my Daughter and Grandson, and Matt's Nephew will all be there.
Wish us luck! One of the Bucks was on the cam last night, but not clear which one. Also had a bear the night before, but just turkeys this morning!

Good luck to the gang Mike. We had 2 rack buck outsmart me and my buddy this morning.
Cut out of work a bit early today. Planned on working on the shop. Got home amd went to get the Japanese wheel barrow out. (Thats right I'm too lazy to carry tools and whatnot 500 feet to the shop from the house.) Went to start it, cranked over real slow then quit. OK, I just put a new battery in it, so it shouldn't be that. Went and grabbed my multi meter and did a few tests. Battery voltage good at the starter, ground ohmed out to 1.9 from the battery to the starter. Checked the signal wire. All good. Gave the obligatory tap with a hammer on the starter and tried to crank again. Turned over real slow and stopped. Pulled the starter out. 2 of the 4 brushes were shot. One actually fell out of the holder with the wire broke off. Ok, called around to a few starter shops. Just needed a brush set for it. No joy, everyone wanted to sell me a $150.00+ starter. Seems no one was interested in selling a brush set for it. Got my Google Foo on and found a brush set for $15.00 and a starter that should work for $76.00. Ordered both. Kinda irritating, but the kubota does have around 2500 hours on it, so I guess the starter doesn't owe me anything. I'll toss the new starter on and go over the old one and keep it as a spare.
So got the manual wheel barrow out and drug all my tools and whatnot out to the shop. Finished up the back wall and started taking measurements for tin. I did figure out I'll be going with the 10 foot lean to off the side. I'll let 2 foot over hang on the eve. This should allow me to skirt around the 1k sq ft thing and have a nice spot to fill up with wood. I'll keep the support posts at 8 foot off the side of the shop.
Got to get to bed early tonight, the Towman show is down in Baltimore tomorrow. Me, my uncles and 2 cousins are headed down in the morning. I'll do my best to remember to take pics. It's usually a pretty good display of tow truck, wreckers roll backs and related recovery equipment.

He has issues with his hunting buddies doing the chores up there
He said, “I own 113acres and Ray freaking buys a cord from a guy in town, embarrassing”
I told him Uncle Mike would slap me…
He said next year, if I do his wood, I get access to the 113
Just waiting for my basketball star daughter to get out the shower and I’m hitting the highway

So the second young man involved in the accident is very much alive and doing a little better today. Good news on that front.

I didn't realize the 12mm 044 had flippy caps, but you know I certainly don't know all things stihl, heck I don't know much about huskys.
Looks like a 440 with an 044 top to me. Funny mine happened to be set up that way too. There are so many of those ole saws out there, gotta do what you gotta do to keep them looking good, that one looks really good.
Those swisher splitters are pretty neat the way they disengage the motor from the engine/pump. Sure makes them easier to start in cold weather.
Saw this yesterday near Chicago and thought you might enjoy seeing it. I looked it up because I new it would be rare if it was Bob's

Chipper is correct, an original 044 would have screw caps ... but a lot of them have am handles now!
My hybrid is a true concoction! The case is an am 440, the crank is an OEM 12mm 044, the tank handle is am 440, the jug is OEM 046-D, and it is running a Husky single ring piston which allows the ports to be wider. Even though the piston was machined, the saw needs double gasket for proper squish.
Doc Al did the machining and port work, and it runs very strong!
