I don't know whether it amounts to a hill of beans, but my partner in crime puts the piston past the rings in to the cylinder before he installs the wrist pin. Easy with that Stihl tool .
Don't think I'd try that without the Stihl tool.

Piston support/Connecting rod holder helps too. I use a filed pointed nail, like Tom showed with the pick, to get the clip started, then the nail head to to push it into the groove. Two homemade tools.

Interesting! Everyone has their preferred way right? Many ways to skin a cat :)

Some day I am going to buy you a little table so you don't have to work on the ground all the time.
