So I decided to order a new 200t Stihl rear handle, instead of the top handled design. Many of you guys on here told me to stay away from the top handle for ground work. How do you guys like the rear handle 200t for ground work? I will have it in a week or so with a 12" bar...

New 200T Rear Handle Saw

Nice saw, was just looking at one the other day.
Will you be using a 3/8" low profile chain with that? I think that Sthil makes the best LP chain to be found.
What type of work will you doing with this new saw?
How would this saw compaire to a Husky 339XP ?

I wanted a small, lightweight saw in my lineup, for ground work. I often want a very light saw that is powerful for limbing, and taking down 4"-8" trees. I plan on running a 12" bar, and probably 3/8" chain..0.050" bar...

The 339xp has some more power, and is better handling - but most people here doesn't seem to care.....:givebeer: :givebeer:

I think the 335/338 left such a bad taste in people's mouths that they are leary to try the 339xp. With that said, I doubt there are more than a handful of people on here that have enough runtime on a 339 to give it a thorough evaluation. I doubt you have enough runtime on either to give an accurate evaluation. The 200t is extremely proven, so its not hard to fathom the 200 rear handle being a winner also.

What is proven on the 200/200T is carb problems, as it was on the older 339s as well (not in the US, as they weren't there).....

I had one. Some b***ard stole it. It was the best small saw I ever laid hands on. I'm sort of waiting for my 024 to blow up so that I can replace it with a 200. Damn thing just keeps on cutting though....

Sthil 200 RH Saw

That's the price around here too!
I had hoped to get some kind of deal from this Sthil mechanic that I know, but he crashed a dirt bike and is out of work for a while.
The last Sthil I bought was a 09, about 16 years ago.
But that 339Xp is looking good too! And for less money.

I promise you will be so very pleased with your new saw.

As guided by you guys, I bought a 200 Rear handle last spring, and I love it. My biggest problem is realizing that I need to put it down and pick up a bigger saw when the wood starts to get larger. This saw loves to eat and its so nimble and quick.

I've thought about buying an MS 200 on more than one occasion. Ultimately, I don't spend enough time cutting that small of stuff in order to warrant the purchase of anything more than an MS 180 or similar type saw of whatever brand in this saw category. I kind of wish that I had more need for a saw of this size...because I'd really like to have an MS 200. Then again...I do own saws that I don't neccesarily "need"...I just wanted them. Perhaps, there's room for an MS 200 in my future afterall? Congratulations...excellent choice!

Congratulations on your new saw. I'm sure you'll be glad you spent the extra cash. You only buy it once, after all.

The 200 is a incredible cutting machine to be so small !

If you're really interested in this category of saw...then, I'd say the answer is yes! The 200 will seriously out perform the 192. In the long run, you will scarcely remember the additional money that the MS 200 will cost you...unless of course...you're a hopeless meiser! :hmm3grin2orange:

Thanks guys, I hope it works out well for me...So...is the 339xp really a much better saw then the ms200 rear handle?
