I was at the dealer today, and seen new Husqvarna's, the had some weird looking toolless chain adjuster on them. Any body try them? They look kinda cheap, but the salesman said the people that bought them liked them alot.

Well.... I've heard that people like 'em. They're supposed to be more durable than they look. I personally won't ever buy one though. I don't trust new stuff like that. Besides, the old way is tried and true, and really not difficult. I mean really, is it too much work to pick up a screwdriver?

I'm with you on preferring saws that have a proven track record, and also like you would stay away from the latest gizmos. If it were soley up to guys like you and me, civilization would still be struggling to get out of the Bronze Age.

I'm in same boat with you guys. I had to put saw down after I seen that. I still think I'll kep looking for 72-88 xp in pieces I can fix .

I hate the Stihl "tooless" caps and chain adjusters. They look like crap and look cheap, even if they are holding up in the real world. I really hope Husqvarna's dont end up with something like that on their pro saws

There is a hidden ploy here no one has recognized.....the demise of the "Scrench" (!) :angry2:

I like the tooless caps, but you can keep that chain adjuster.....

I've seen the toolless adjuster on some of the Poulans. They look flimsy. I don't like the Intenz bar that is on my Craftsman either. Unfortunately I don't have another option since there is no tensioner on the body of the saw.

I like the tool-less caps on the Stihl. I don't have to carry another tool to get the caps off. The side access chain tensioner is nice. Keeps the hands away from the hot bar and chain. My Poulan has the tensioning screw on the front of the saw and using it is a pain when the saw is hot.

Maybe the non-members reading it doesn't - you need to consider them as well.......:censored:

I meant to say that when I was reading this thread I already knew your response before you posted it. :censored:

Ever try to flip those blasted caps in the winter time wearing insulated gloves when its -20 farenheit?Fat chance.Or blow a tank of bar oil on yer left chap when your in a hurry, and didnt notice that it wasnt locked all the way in?
Never worked with the tooless bar,so Ill continue to carry a scrench in the pocket on the side of my carharts, thats what its there for.

Yeah I know what you mean. You really have to be careful and pay attention to get those things locked properly. I guess that leaking caps are a problem to some?
