Ive been using the search all day. Is getting it ported the answer? I also looked at tons of clips on you tube and it seemed the the ported 361's out performed the muffler modded saws. I know that theres alot of variables in the making of these vids. so what all is involved in porting a saw? Whos porting your saws?

Im going nuts with CAD!!!:rockn:

Put up your hands and step away from the chainsaw!!!

My 361 is stock except for a crappy muffler mod that I will fix soon. It has a Stihl 3/4 wrap handle and dual dogs but that is it. I run an 18" bar most times or a 20" bar at others. I like the way it runs just fine but then I am not using it as a falling saw. Sorry I can't add more info. I still like my Husky 357xp better (except for the fact that it oozes oil on my shop floor till it runs empty).

My 361 responded awesomely to a woods port job.
It cuts right behind my ported 460.

2Dogs, why do you like your 357xp better than your 361? And why did you buy two saws the same size?

I bought the 357 just after it hit the shelves. I really like the saw but because of the change in dealerships I now will only buy Stihl. I can call the Stihl dealer and give them my name and the parts I need and they will order for me. With Husqvarna I have to drive 10 miles or more and pay up front, the drive home, then back again, then back home. 40 miles or more for a chain catcher for the 357.

So, I bought a used 361 on ebay and have been happy since. I do still like the feel and performance of the Husky better, not to mention the separate choke lever. The 357 leaks bar oil on the floor, the 361 air cleaner gets clogged very easily. I carry a clutch tool for the Husky but taking off the e-clip on the 361 is more convenient. In reality they are both great saws.

I should just sell the Husky.
