Our local farm store is selling 460's with 24" bars.:dizzy: That saw will be much happier with an 18 or 20" If you want a 24" saw find yourself a 372xp...

I have both a 455 (20" bar) and 460 (24" bar) and would concur with the above statements. In my opinion the 460 lacks the power and torque to adequately handle the 24" bar (at least in bigger wood). I guess you could use it as a limbing saw and avoid that problem though....

:agree2: If you wanna pull a 24 inch bar step up to a 372. I know a 460 rancher is a little bigger(but not much) than a 455 I had. It pulled a 20 ok, but it and me wouldve been happier with a 18. My guess is the 460 rancher would be comfortable with a 20 inch max.

A guy I worked with had issues with his 570, so in a pinch he ran out and bought a 460 with a 24" bar on it. Not only was it slower than death cutting big maple, it also looked ridiculous! The 20" is not too bad but I think and 18" bar would be ideal for both the 455 and the 460. I dont understand why box stores are selling them with a 24" bar, Can anyone explain?

 I can explain! They are retarded!

24" on a 460 Rancher?

Run Full skip and the rakers set at .000000000000000001 and it might not smoke the clutch.

Stay safe!
