My 550 doesn't care for a combination of 32:1 and cutting in short blasts. Otherwise it rips.

It is made for short blasts - but not for 32:1.

Actually I suspect that the fuel people use some times is the reason they are having issues.

50:1 alkylate fuel with high grade synth oil is what they really want, at least "officially"....

Just say no to 32:1/40:1! Lol I think you might be on to something with people running so much oil in the autotune/mtronic saws and having issues.

I know that Randy & Brad recommend 32:1 in all their ported builds

There is a new "kit" out for them consisting of a new carb, a new fuel line which is 26mm (slightly more than 1in) shorter than the original, & a new top cover with more room for air circulation to correct engine overheating which they have, apparently, determined to be the cause for some of P&C failures.
There were also some other changes which, I don't think, are part of the "kit". The changes, IIRC, involve a new crank, ball bearings, & needle bearing. I'm just guessing that these changes are part of an updated design.
The "kit" is on backorder & will not be available until June-----they say!!

There is no "kit" just ongoing product and individual component improvement. You don't want to know how many changes that POS 346 lived through!

I recommend 32:1, no less than 40:1. I have heard of some member having issues with those ratios in Autotune or MTronic saw, but I've never witnessed it myself with the oils I use.

The exact oil and fuel in the mix are likely to be factors then, and what Husky really want people to use is the Aspen alkylate premix. Stihl has a similar alkylate premix over here, that is called MotoMix.
