Summary: Completes tree work tasks by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Maintains good condition of equipment and repairs as needed
  • Briefs job descriptions and safety to all crew members
  • Assists with traffic control by defining the traffic conditions and installing signs where needed
  • Assists climbers with the delivery of ladders and tools
  • Prepares chainsaws and engines; filling them with gas and oil
  • Ensures protection as needed for surrounding vehicles, pedestrians, buildings, etc.
  • Moves debris away from dropping zone to the chipping area, while maintaining a clean and safe working zone at all times
  • Assists tree climbers by providing tools, making specifications on tree cuts and notifying of any potential danger
  • Installs protection for pedestrians and communicates with tree climbers on drop zones
  • Chips debris when chipping zone reaches full capacity
  • Conducts final cleaning of project location
  • Assists climbers with moving equipment
  • Operates company vehicles in safe and courteous manner and in accordance with safety policy manual*
  • Reports all accidents/damage/malfunctions to management immediately*
  • Ensures trucks and equipment are secured while on job sites
  • Protects items in the work area such as cars, windows and people from damage due to flying debris from equipment
  • Wears appropriate clothing and safety equipment in accordance with approved procedures
  • Communicates and reports any account problems or customer complaints, including damage to customer property, to the supervisor and/or owner immediately
  • Follows daily work instructions in an efficient manner
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Valid Driver's License - CDL Preferred, but not required
  • Traffic control certification – Preferred, but not required
  • First aid (required)
  • Chainsaws basic use, knowledge, certification
  • Ground specialist operation certified – TCIA Preferred, but not required
  • Certified Arborist – Preferred, but not required
  • CTSP – Preferred, but not required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
