Be safe out there. I know the power companies around here sent crews out on Friday afternoon heading east. I stopped at the rest area on Friday after work because there where 60+ power company trucks and tree services in the parking lot. I talked to one of the workers and they where "sitting tight" to wait for the storm and then deploy to the area's hardest hit. Stay safe everyone.

Well it's 10am in north jersey. Not much to report. Didn't get much sleep cause the twins we're crying most of the night. The storm kept them awake in the nursery. Good note- basement still dry. Only one limb down in the backyard. Power still up for now. But my parents and brother are both without power in central jersey. Sump pumps on the genny. I was gonna run fuel to them but they just sealed off their whole county. Massive flooding and a tree down at my brother's place. Don't know the details cause his phone is down and local cell tower without power. Standing by. Rivers are starting to swell and boiled water advisory just issued.

Lost power in Highland Lakes, NJ around 9:30 AM - wind is really gusting from the North and down the lake. Trees down across the road near my daughters house about 2 miles away, but locals cut it up and cleared access.

Just fired up the generator....I need coffee!!

Just got a text from my brother. Union county under 2 feet of river swell. He sent me a picture of his front yard. What a mess.

Welp, Some trees and poles are down and I'm under generator power. I can't believe my cable is still working because all the lines are lying in the road, the power transformer is smashed and lying in the road. The road is shut down as well and we are blocked by a downed pole on one side and caution tape on the other.
I'm having a beer and a sandwich with the family, life is good...:msp_thumbup:

Oh man. That's rough, Skip. Stay safe and play it smart with those downed wires.

Thanks for the concern z71! I just went out to the carport, I don't want to stray too far out unless I have to, I can hear trees shattering and falling out back...
Looks like I got some work for my chainsaws!:chainsawguy:

Hurricane Irene will be gone soon...

Sky is clearing out and it's pretty clear now but the winds are ripping. I may still get a chance to use the saws though. We'll see what the next few hours bring. The trees are swaying like blades of grass.

You got that right z71mike. The wind hear has been really strong here outside of northeast philadelphia on the back edge of irene gusting to about 40 mph. So if you go out after the storm has passed to clean up, watch out for the back edge of this storms winds. during the whole storm i never lost electric and i would of thought we would of had to fire up the generator.

I actually am seeing some dry spots in my driveway right now. Supposedly the storm hasn't really hit states to the south of me quite hard yet so we'll see what comes of it. The wind is still blowing, probably 20-30mph at times. The waves at the beach are pretty strong for this area, but not too overpowering.

My power has gone out twice in the last hour for 5-minute intervals. The wind is still gusting probably somewhere near 50mph and branches are still dropping. Every time there's a huge wind gust, we hear sirens, then we lose power. I'm seeing a pattern here......

This wind hasta stop if we're gonna have any chance of keeping electricity.

Some pics of the aftermath...
