My vote is DIRKO... a little goes a LONG way and does a great job...

Let's say you've taken your saw apart, removed the base gasket, did some other mods, and now you're putting it all back together. What do you use to seal up the interface between the cylinder and the crankcase? I have an old tube of Permatex red 51813 sealant, but maybe there's something better out there?

The ref permatex 51813 is what I use. Had to be mounted and sit for 24 hrs before use though.

Last 3 or 4 we built with 518 we started as soon as we got the saw back together with no problems. I think cure time in the specs say 42 minutes

That's good to know. I was always Leary to run them right away

I've always used Yamabond for bikes and saws with good results. It is a little messy and stringy though. I might have to give the 518 a try.
