I recently traded my like new MS 362 for a cub cadet. I sold most of the cub cadet and ended up with enough cash to buy this used MS 460 and still some parts to sell. This thing is way over kill for me, but it was in my price range. I am going to have to get a smaller bar for it though. The current bar is a brand new 32" GB CN40 with a brand new full chisel chain. I doubt I'm going to need a 32" bar so I need to find a good 25" bar and chain. Any suggestions?

My only complaint on the saw is that the sprocket cover is cracked. Looks like I need to find a new one of those too.

Very nice!

Wow! That's a beauty. :msp_thumbup:
I ported mine and I usually run a 25" on it. I also added a dual port muffler cover, larger dual spikes and 3/4 wrap handle.
Be sure to pull the limiter caps and retune if you add the dp cover.
Those GB Ti bars look better than OEM bars.

I was thinking about getting a dual port muffler for it. Might have to wait a bit for it though.....

Nice score! Get the big felling dogs for that saw - it looks ridiculous with that little bumper spike.

The 460 is bad to the bone. But I cant help notice that sweet ass mongoose in the background. That thing looks mint! What is the date on that? I had one that was either '84, '86 or '88 I cannot remember. Is it a California model? That is just sweet!

I run a 25" Stihl Rollomatic ES on either my MS440 or the 066. It's not overly heavy and seems to balance pretty well on the MS440, which has enough power to pull it fine. It's set up with 3/8-.063 and have both rsc and rsf(skip) chain that i use dpending on what we are cutting that day. I have had no problems with any of the stihl bars that i have. Have some oregon bars as well, and those seem to hold up well also. I'm sure others will chime in on their favorites. If you decide to sell that GB bar, either post it on here, or stick it in the classifieds. I'm sure you'll get a buyer. Ive been looking at purchasing a 28-32 bar myself, but just haven't done so yet. Don't know much about the GB bars, they do look nice though.

The mongoose is a 1985 Californian with Pro Class 3 piece cranks. The cranks are very rare and worth a ton. I traded my Echo CS-450 for it. I just can't sell it. My buddy through it in with the deal for the saw saying that I could keep it if I wanted to restore it. I always took that as I can keep the bike as long as i didn't sell it. I think it cost me $700 to rebuild it to near original condition. The bike should be worth around $1500ish. Cranks alone are selling for $1000 on ebay right now.

So what is the deal with this GB bar. I've tried to look it up, but I haven't had a lot of luck. It seems almost impossible to find a new one. Did I stumble on to something truly awesome?

GB bars are good - or they were anyway. Most consider them only just short of a still bar and better than an oregon - the titanium ones like yours anyway. Now GB bars are made in china and total sh ithouse so I guess it's hard to find anyone bothering to sell them anymore. Either way you have a goos bar that if you're not planning on using should go for a good price.

I think I might go with a 20" and a 8 tooth rim with a couple of loops of RM for this thing. I don't cut a whole lot that would require a 25" bar, let alone a 32. Also I found a lead on some slab wood so I think the RM would work better for me than some RS.

Nice saw. A DP cover is a nice addition. I have been slowly converting mine into an R model.

I've heard the paint wears off the GB TI bars fairly easy. You might want to clean it good, then spray a matte sealer over it to help save it.
Or.... I'll trade you for a new Stihl 20-25" bar. :)

Congratulations on the 460 as they are a heck of a saw.

As for the GB bars, the paint does come off fairly quickly but the bars don't need to be dressed or flipped nearly as often. My 20" on my 044 has gone 4 times as long as a my Stihl one did and still shows no signs of wear where the Stihl really had to be dressed and flipped.

if no ones taken dibbs on the 32 bar id trade a new 25 inch stihl es bar and 3 new chains for it
