Calif. while a great place to live, isn't business friendly. I have read some on this site about the new smog tiers for commercial motors over 50 HP, but I am now starting to see the effects its having on small businesses. I left a guys house where he's almost having a nervous brake down over this. He has a lot of nice equipment, better then most. Yet now most of it is now non-compliant with the law. The economy is in a up and down turmoil still out here, especially here in the Inland empire, spending several hundred thousand dollar on new equipment isn't an option for many.
I mentioned this to some other owner operators I know and it has effected them as well. Many ending up selling non-compliant equipment at auction for way below market value or are sitting on stuff they can't use.
Who's going to profit from this? The air? I like being able to see the air I breath:msp_rolleyes: No the hakes with the old pick up and chuck and dive, who are use to flying under radar, working without ins. or workers comp, and any amount of skill
Large muliti-stated businesses can just shuffle things around to other out of state divisional partners. The biggest and the best will just factor it in on their bids, but the struggling little guy is screwed.
I have been looking around for a old dump and small chipper, thinking about maybe going back into business, but I can't afford to buy new.
Just would like to hear from any other Calif. based companys that have been effected by this, or any advice about getting older equipment compliant, so I can pass it on. Thanks.

I have had CARB follow us to a job just to check our stuff. We have sold at auction some fine trucks and equiptment and buy new. California is whack.
Jeff

haha I woulda just kept driving and driving maybe all day just to screw with the CARB guy are there trucks marked?

I see a lot of equipment on ebay cheap from kali when I'm looking through the listings I'm like wow thats a sweet deal maybe I'll go for it then I look and its in all the way in kali

Yeah and the rest of us are really looking forward to what happens in Kalifornia then goes federal. Like the old saying goes, "Be careful what you ask for, you might get it".

adapt

....could go on and on about this.....outrageous DMV fees... environmental laws... engine emissions horse ####.... i had to replace 2 engines recently.... when the people i ordered them from realized the engines were being shipped to CA they had to tack on 700 more bucks for the CA versions of the engines.... i know lots of truckers who wont even drive to this state.... i have had to adapt my bus. around the completely corrupt "government" systems.... i dont even call it a state gov. its a darth vader crime syndicate that is all about extortion and sucking blood... here is how i adapted.... use big job set up for huge removals and prunes... use small job hack set up for med. prunes and small removal/ prunes.... use the big truck and chipper less and less and use the small old truck and chipper more and more... a lot of small fine prunes takes time and produces less brush and its easier on me and i can make decent $ and return to the same trees every year.... i can fix anything on that old truck nothing is computerized... the small job set up uses a tiny fraction of gas compared to the big set up.... it goes on and on...

Kali will always be the leading state for socialist activity. State gov mafi not much different then the DC mafia. Drove CDL truck for five years back in the '90s. They were pressuring the independent truckers hard back then. Me, just compay driver. Avoided most of the BS. Just move out of state. Well, most of ya probable cant? Becareful what you ask for. Who in Iowa wanted more regulations. Easy! Just move to Kali. Wish ya the best! But that state is screwed up!

Maybe if they didnt have so many pot heads in Kalifornia the air would be cleaner:msp_wink:. Send all those trucks to the auction here in Colorado , I love good deals. Seriously though , I have a '08 dodge 3500 cummins with all the emissions garbage DPF, EGR and such. The older cummins got pretty fn good fuel milage, but now with all this emissions **** they get pretty lfn bad milage in comparison to the 5.9L Sooooo we burn almost twice as much fuel to get better emissions - doesnt make much sense to me.

I hear beijing, mexico city, and, New dehli let you run whatever kind of engine you want. I lived in Pomona in the inland empire for 4 years and I remember playing basketball and my lungs feeling like cottage cheese. I got the hell out of cali for sure.

Who will benefit? Undocumented workers who don't have business licenses anyways! They have nothing to lose and they'll never get caught. Meanwhile the law abiding business owners get squeezed out. This is what people need to realize. When regulation becomes overbearing, you drive industry to other, less environmentally friendly places.

From what ive seen in socal alot of guys are going back to trailers they just slowed down so much.or if your a little more serious you have 2 whipper chippers. the whipper rules here , ford 300 gas but it requires careful stacking of brush and many plastic shovels and more exp. operators..

The real drama is dumping..you get a little bit of palm in your load and your going to pay 400+ dollars for non cdl truck. It's always better to find a property owner to dump and if you get in a little bit with the license you can dump Cal trans...either trash or treasure..They don't like palm because its so light it gets lifted up into the filtering ducts for biomass burners and clogs them.

Where there's Civilization there's regulation

ive heard the whole arborculture scene is about 20 yrs behind the rest of the country..chippers included

A guy I know was telling me his Company is buying big clamp trucks, with removalable roll off beds(including clamp assembly.) and phaseing out chippers all together. There will have to be changes made to stay competitive in this state.

hmm

You know whats funny about all these new laws is that most of our air pollution in the US comes from Coal Burning Power Plants and not from car, machine engines. Tier 4 is a marketing trick that brings in Revenue for the Manufactures/big business and politicians.
How about make a f***** law that Wal Mart and Home Depot, Office max,..................etc. can't leave their parking lot lights on all night while nobody's there???????? I bet you could power the entire country for years on all that wasted power.
Or better yet why not switch to a cleaner power system??????
But no, none of that would make sense. Instead lets convince your average guy his car or truck is the problem and make him accountable for it all while The government and its buddies destroy and pollute with no regard as fast as they can for profit.

And then we'll have the average american pay us through the nose in taxes so that way we have a large budget available for marketing so that we can convince him he is at fault.....
Just makes me want to break out in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Heres a nice link where Sam Walton was awarded the "MEDAL OF FREEDOM" award!
http://walmartstores.com/AboutUs/331.aspx

How long are we going to stand back and allow these clowns to piss down our backs and tell us its raining?? F*** them and their laws.
The government is operating illegally at this point and has been for quite some time.

My 2 cents on wally world. Walmart has to leave their lights on. They lost a law suit where someone "fell". Now they leave all lights on and have added more cameras to all their stores. This records every action on their property's. They have a full time legal office that is dedicated to fighting lawsuits form parking lot and walk way lawsuits, they have not paid a claim since. They get over 1000 suits a year in accidents involving ice and snow. I used to plow the ones here and would BS with the GM's. They told me some stories of how people will "set up" accidents, they get all caught on film and blast them in court, said it is pretty fun when they (scammers) see the vids for the first time.

Sadly I'm not suprised at all. Leave it to a few to fk it up for everyone else. Quite a few dishonest people back home these days. If you fall and hurt yourself its usually your own dam fault unless there are very special circumstances. I won't even start on our lawyers and legal system though. Ugh.

Green beans would you believe in Europe it is illegal to have most aftermarket bumpers on cars.
On my CJ7 they said the bumpers were illegal. I asked why of course.
They said someone could accidently fall in a parking lot and hit their head on the bumper on the way down!!!!!!!!!! Never mind hitting their head on a rock or the concrete?? They said the second reason was if I hit a pedestrian their body could get caught on the bumper ???????

I have a solution to that parking lot problem. Turn the lights off. Save the power.
Post a sign that says your safety is in your own hands and its your own responsibility, proceed with common sense.
And then have the court stop entertaining frivolous lawsuits.

everybody knows its bull crap , money and power is all that matters ..civilians are just cattle that pay to live...makes me want to scream how stupid this is that this world came to how it is

besides the common sense stuff ,murder rape etc no human being should be able to tell or make another do anything....oh lawd would love to see the power of command #### the other way ,force the high and mighty to be on everyday people level

"the people should not be afraid of there government ,the government should be afraid of its people"

they had somthing come through a few years ago where the town im in wanted to know everypiece of equip./ tool you had down to each socket, wrench nut and bolt for tax.... havent heard much about it lately ....

people should know what there gov is for, wich is supposed to be our well being etc ,but it is so far from that its hilarious
