Hey Guys

Just wondering if any of you knew of any climbing short courses that were being taught around the midwest. I am interested in getting into but I work full time so taking some college courses would be doubtful. Thanks for all your help.

Your best bet would be to find a service that would work you on the weekends as a grounder and give you some training. I've been told that good services in IA are few and far between. When i was in DuBuque last winter most of the work I saw was either topping or raise & gut bucket butchery.

Quad Cities has it a little better.

Check with any local colleges or universities. Some offer short courses as an introduction, and teach you the basics of knots, equipment, access points, good tie in locations, and how to get into and move around in the tree. You will likely need to supply your own equipment.
