Found this trolling CL. Its Willow, but free wood=free heat...plus it was only 5 miles away. If this site has taught me anything, its never turn down free wood, regardless of type...thanks for the lesson!

Nice job, good score. I believe the same thing free wood= free heat. Some might turn their noses up but good job.:clap:

I have a little over a cord of willow wood that should be good and seasoned for next year, and my brother has another cord of the same, all from the same tree.

I also have a good deal of pine and fur. Take what you can get.

At first I thought he misspelled "fir" ... but then I saw he's from Maine, and they may just be crazy enough up there to stack up and season road kill...

That's pretty funny...!:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

Oh yeah...that's a darn nice load of woodheat ya got there!:cheers:

Yeah, it's mostly coons, but a handful of skunks and squirrels. Overnight it's best to use a long burner like a snapper though.

A cord of willow will last last 3 or 4 days if your burning steady. Makes good kindling

:D

For full disclosure, when I was going to school we had one school bus driver who would stop the bus and pick up road kill to feed her cats, and we had a junior high science teacher who if he saw a non-squished road kill would pick it up and treat one of his classes that day to an autopsy.
