Hopefully I did not make a mistake :monkey:

In my mind Stihl is the better chain saw. I shopped around and looked for a ocassional chain saw for future storm damage and felling of a large tree - 14". After an overwhelming amount of info from dealers and lack of store stock, I decided to buy the Stihl MS 211. When I went to get one, they only had old models (210's etc...) and said they could order me a 211 but it is exactly the same as the 210 but they did not have one so suggested a 181. (Hello, new features, modified engine). I ended up leaving upset with them. Now, I ended up getting a Husqvarna 435 which I felt was probably the closest to the MS 211. Did I make a good choice or should I return it before I pour the gas in it and get the initial thought of the MS 211?

Husqvarna 435

I have a 435. It is a little hard to cold start, but runs great for
a little saw once you get it going. I think CliffR and some other
members may have more hours & experience with these saws.

I have been looking at the specs of a Shindaiwa 377, they are about the
same weight of an Husky 435 and Stihl 211, but have pro type features.
There are dealers for all in my area. I need a little limbing saw that
will start easy and run reliably, thanks to last springs ice storm.

Actually yes you did, heres why if you had seen my sig before now you would have known I have a 345 like new still in the box for sale with extras you could have bought and its even a little bigger than that saw!

j/k it will be ok for awhile....

If you richen the low speed screw just a hair, it will start more easily I think. My neighbor has a 435 and I had to richen it up a bit- it was tuned quite lean from the dealer.

That being said, the 435 is a fine saw.

435 carb adjust

435: I have been there and done that.
It runs great once you get it warmed up and stays that way.
Probably just needs a little more breaking in.

I have also been working on this POS PP260 I have been using
for for a cleanup saw for 5 years; I installed a new piston & while
I was doing that, I found the flywheel had been whacking the ignition
module. I reset clearance with the business card method. This
might have been why it would start easy and go downhill from there.

If it ever quits raining, I am going to test my repairs.

Stick with it. They're reported to be good saws. 211 has all the new *&^$ the 181 has (whether you consider it good or bad).
