Having just bought a digital tach to tune my 3 chainsaws along with assorted other 2 and 4 stroke engines I am curious if any of my saws have the limited coil as I have read that if they do you have to be very careful at max. rpm or you can set them to lean and trash your engine. My saws are: Husky 142e, Stihl 026, and Stihl MS362. Thanks!

The MS261 limites at about 15,200. The MS880 is limited. I think the 441 is as well. Also the 066 Red Light and any model with teh CDIC coil. There might be others, but those come to mind.

Is the 361 limited or does it just sound that way because of the restricted muffler?

As Brad said, very few Stihls are limited and alot of Huskys are. Don't know about a 142 but I feel it's a strong possibility that it is limited. I think you should be able to look at the coil and tell. Blue coil is limited, and will have the RPM etched on it. Black coil is unlimited.
