WTF, No more air than the diaphram requires,i don't think that notching that gasket is a good idea, when that little hole fills up with sawdust,you will have created the same problem your trying to avoid...
I hear ya.I would like to see that gap filled with filter foam.Although it is in a position where it doesn't seem to pick up much debris.
All I know is this is the way I got it from my dealer and they modify every 5100 they sell in the same fashion.They said they have had Dolmar technicians check it out and they are still doing it.It is dealer tuned to run on avgas.Bottom line is as long is it's under warranty I ain't messing with it.Ron
