Just another thread to state that we are now less than 10 months away from 2010. The new 2010 EPA laws are fast approaching. That means that a LOT of saws out there today are not going to be available in the USA after the end of this year (if not sooner). Yes, THIS YEAR! This includes all the existing line of Stihl saws, except the MS441, and the newly released 171, 181, and 211 (which are not out here yet).
So for those that are not aware, maybe now is a good time to pick up that Stihl 460, 660, 180 (181 is heavier), 361, 260, 880, or other saw that you have been oogling over on the shelf. Note also that several Huskies like the 372xp are also on the death list. As for Dolmar, there are no real Dolmar shops anywhere around here so I do not know what is going to remain or be tossed in their lineup. I presume that the new PS-350 and 420 are in the new line, and the 401 will be toast.
And for those non-believers, yes, this is really going to happen. This is not a hoax or a spoof. The 2010 EPA laws have been on the books for a long time now, and they (the EPA) is not going to go lax on these like they did in the last rounds. It also affects all hand held power tools, and not just chainsaws. That includes cut-off saws, trimmers, blowers and the like. So get 'em now or cry later.
Then again, maybe you want the newer, heavier, hard to modify stratified air-injected two stroke eninges? In that case, your day is about to come!
