I am thinking about getting on of those double action log splitters. I have looked at the NT Powerhorse and the Wallenstein, which looks nice but is way beyond my budget.

Has anyone used these or similar type splitters? Is the productivity that much greater than a single wedge hydraulic wood splitter?

I have a Surge Master which is the exact same as the Wallenstein WX980, it has been a good unit. If I personally where to do it again I would look at a Split-Fire dual action splitter http://www.split-fire.com/ Alot of the comercial firewood guys around here use them with good reviews.
