to keep it from falling over when he splits it . i used to use a tire . hoot

Thanks, makes sense. I don't do a lot of hand splitting, but enough to know that most splits seem like magnets repelling each other, headed for opposite time zones.

Nice find. Don't you just love the way a straight piece of ash splits?

I got 3 big ashes down and stacked this winter. Best splitting bar none.
