Since August of 2011, I've had four loads of logs delivered. In total, 32 cord. I've been trying to get ahead a year or two. Each load is 8 cord @ $110 per cord - so $880 total. Three of the loads were mostly yellow birch and maple with a little beech. The fourth one was almost all maple and ash with a little beech. This last load was delivered on February 15. I worked in two day cycles - one day cutting and one day splitting. Unfortunately, a couple of snow storms hindered my progress, but mostly I worked every day and finally finished stacking the last bit yesterday, March 6 - so right at 20 days. All solo, BTW. Enjoy!

10-11 cord of it has already been burned in the P&M. About 12 cord is right there in the pics - those stacks are 6 rows deep. Some of it is also pictured behind the log pile in Holz Hauzens but those are mostly under snow. 2.5 cord in my 1 car garage and 2 cord inside my wood shed. I have no idea if that math works out, but you get the idea. It's there!

nice work! isn't it nice to saw and split logs from a pile right there on site? no need to shlep them out of the woods, load, haul, unload, then saw and split.

out of curiosity, how long are you cutting your pieces, and what is the typical size piece of firewood for your P&M optomizer? Thanks for the thread.

Oh yes, it's definitely nice. I know some places are getting cut/split/delivered wood for a few more dollars than what I'm paying for logs, but there's value for me in the satisfaction of doing it myself. Plus it's a nice work out!

I'm cutting @ 24". The P&M will take logs up to 29" or 30" but my splitter only accepts 25"...So @ 24" I have a little room for error, crooked cuts, odd shapes/crotches, etc. I think I could technically skip the splitting of most of my logs, but the gasifier wants dry dry dry wood - and it would take between forever and never for a 2 foot log to dry.

Are those first 3 pics of an 8 cord load?

Put it to you this way...That's what I've paid for...4 times! :dizzy:

I measured out one of the loads after it was all cut and split and I think I came out to right around 7.8ish with a little pile of cookies and butt ends, etc. So - I'd say it's no more/no less.

Nice beginning to end pics :msp_thumbup: And it's nice to have a little snowcover so that stuff isn't getting dragged through the dirt!

Wish I was there with my Fiskars to help split just for the fun of it:rock:

I actually had a lot of fun with it...Until cords 28-32. Then it just became a chore.

My wife would have helped but she's 4 months pregnant...So, no go on that one!

I was gonna ask what the hell am I gonna do with all my free time...But with a little one on the way, I guess I know the answer to that!

It has been awhile since I cut from log loads ... about how many hours per cord or truckload do you think it takes you ?

Thanks
