The RS has a pointed (square chisel) cutter, the point is fairly small and when the "point" gets dull the chain stops cutting. And any foreign debris will knock that point off.

The RM has a more rounded (semi chisel) cutter and does not have a point, so it takes a while longer to dull the whole rounded cutter. Which makes it better suited to dirty or rough conditions.

The RS is faster but the RM stays sharp longer.
