of my stickler contraption in action to go along with the pics from the other day. this was one of the first logs, so we were still getting the hang of it.

Lots of vids of those unicorns on youtube, and they always make me wonder who the heck thought of that contraption. :)

I think I'll stick with my log splitter.

we use the other splitter (our hydraulic one) for most of our splitting. this stickler splitter will split anything however, so we can go through a tree with a 40 inch trunk. our other splitter cant.

and when u start splitting up one of those big logs, the wood stacks up quick lol!

Neat video.

That is some gnarly looking wood. Out here 99% of my wood can be split with an axe or maul. Once in a great while I have to use the saw on a crotch piece.

How many pieces per gallon are you getting?

we can run a day on about 4-6 gallons or so.... and with that splitter in an 8hr day, we can split around 3-4 cords.

I'm wondering about the height of the screw. If you had it higher, you wouldn't need to bend over so much. But, it may be better to lower it...then you could just roll the piece on the ground and shove it into the screw with your foot. No bending required.

better to have it lower, then u can just roll it on there. it took us a while to figure out the best way to do it. this was the first day we got it.

the reason lower is better is because we ONLY split the big logs with this. all the lil logs go to a hydr splitter. and no body wants to pick up those huge logs lol.

what we do is put a stump to sit on out there in front of it, and then roll a few logs over, then just sit on the stump and split 5-10 logs, then go get 5-10 more.
