Well it has a new wiring harness, so I'll put the solenoid on the list.No wonder I don't own one of these saws,I can't afford it. So far almost 300.00 and it still doesn't run and the sad part is I have another one after this one. It has been said that the tricks of the trade make work easy or hard. If you know them easy if you don't hard.I need to learn some new tricks.YA think I can buy some on fleebay?
 
This would tend to indicate that the M-tronics is not happy. It will kill spark if it senses a problem with the wiring or other components like the solenoid.

Sure wish someone would share the M-tronic theory of operation / troubleshooting information (PM if necessary). ;)
Its not as helpful as you think. It will lose spark if there’s a electrical solenoid problem. Very very rare that I’ve found. The biggest problem was leaking. They didnt come out with a test for that until recently. Its easyier just to replace it. Then you know for sure. Many lose sight that its a very conventional carb. Or, just blame that dang computer lol.

Well, it is a computer controlled system. On startup the computer tests the solenoid by commanding it to go either rich or lean which should affect the idle speed which is measured. If the idle speed doesn't change (or change enough) the computer declares a fault and shuts off the spark.

This way you can't pollute the atmosphere (rich) or burn up the engine (lean). Under this scenario it is NOT an electrical problem. The solenoid just isn't doing what it should because it is leaking.

It may not even start at all if it detects that the solenoid is open/disconnected. This would be in interesting test after you get it fixed.
 
1.Change the solenoid. If that doesn't work...
2.Change the solenoid again. If that doesn't work see #1

Almost all the TC issues I've had were solved with a wiring harness replacing or an new solenoid and a RESET OF THE NEW SOLENOID.
I’ve been lucky…haven’t had to change those…yet :p

Did you take the muffler off? If so, the piston in good shape? Leave the compression tester in the tool box.
 
Hi I have tried 2 different new fuel filters.But the trigger has done been pulled I ordered fuel lines last week.I don't think it's a bad call because the inner line is very soft.Now I'm leaning toward the fuel solenoid. I' going to the dealer today to check with them on the solenoid.
 
Just got back from the dealer and they said this saw has no solenoid. I looked at the parts diagram and did not see one either.The electric part on the carb is called a trigger it is 64.00. the whole carb is 87.00 with the trigger on it.There is a barb connector between the fuel lines.

carb price sounds right. They were $85 last year :p

That dealer dont know what to look for! I think it is there under that part he mentioned.

Hi didn't mean cause a controversy. The guy I talked to today is definitely not the sharpest crayon in the box neither am I.But he had me come behind the counter and look at the parts diagram.The red and black wires hook to the car to two little white blocks.They run through the saw and attach to coil through another block.On the parts diagram this is called the trigger. The other carb I tried on was off another saw. This saw was 3 moths old when it got run over by a truck. But as some one stated just because its newer doesn't mean it's good.

Those wires go to the Solenoid Im telling you for a fact look deeper in on the carb there is a little bracket with a torx screw holding it into the carb take that off then pull the solenoid out. Its hidden under there.
