Another thing to notice on those jugs is the blocked area of air flow next to the exhaust port. On the 390 jug I put on my 029 I opened up the area (drilled it out and Dremeled it) so that air flow could pass through the fins. That also helps to stop the flow of heat from the exhaust port and muffler into the jug.

I noticed this 'hot spot' on two 029 jugs I had. That was the area that seized when the boss for the muffler bolt had expanded and reduced the clearance.

I got some pictures with the world's worst digital camera. Sorry about the picture quality

I'll get more pictures with a better camera this weekend.

The stock Stihl bearings are 7-ball and have a plastic cage. I put in some cheap Chinese 8-ball bearings with steel cages. It's nice and smooth running now.

The old bearings were flat worn out and the crank was wobbling all over the place. The flywheel was notched from hitting the coil it was so bad.
