Seen a 262xp going cheap(ish!) near where I live, just wondered what you guys think about them? What year was it manufactured from/to, what size bars will it realistically pull and are they easy to work on?

Thanks for your help guys!

saw troll or somebody can probably give you the dates of manufacture. I would say depending on the price and condition buy it! It has got to be better than that Stihl you are running! :spam:

Ok, I love my 262xp, I think it's the cats meow. It is VERY compareable to a Stihl MS361/MS362 in almost everyway. I run an 18" bar on mine, I think it could go as big as a 24". What is the asking price??

Mike

Dang vultures, tryin to swoop up a deal. LOL.
I havent had the chance to run one yet, but would pick one up, no doubt. I have heard good things about them

They were made in Sweden 1990-1999 (or a tad longer), then (most likely) in Brazil for "third world" markets - not sure if they still make them, but I believe not....

The power specs of the Brazil saws were slightly downrated (.1kW).

Ok, Ok, getting the message guys! Thank you all for the info.
Will go have a look and see if its alright.

Sorry you US guys wont be able to get your hands on this one!

So max bar length is 24" practically, with good power??

Much happier with an 18 or 20. The saw is a small bar mount, which raises some durability issues. Also will feel front end heavy like all 60cc saws with a 24. If you want to run a 24 all the time look for something larger after buying the 262.

I'd love to have a "buddy" across the pond....you guys always seem to have saws I'm looking for over there but nobody will ship to the states.........

Tri955-

Sorry mate, I would be your chainsaw buddy, but to be honest it costs so much to ship to the States from here that it would never be worth your while to buy a saw, then ship it! Also Royal Mail would lose the bloody thing before it left this country!! :dizzy: :monkey:

Nothing wrong with a 24" on a 262,i've ran a couple of them with that setup for several years. Does'nt pull it with the authority of a larger saw, but then you shoudn't expect it to.

I believe they are at their best with an 18" - but that isn't first hand info.....:givebeer:
