That isn't the problem, loss of power is!!
What kind of power do you think I would gain from taking out the screen?

I am sure that will vary a lot between different saw models - just try it! Personally, I have never run any of my saws with the screen in place, so I can't really say.
Actually, the main disadvantage with the screens is that they tend to get clogged, reducing the flow further.
