I stopped at a garage sale this morning and the seller had three chainsaws for $10 ea. (Poulan, CM and this Husky 254XP). I obviously grapped the Husky. It looks like it's only been used once or twice and has the orginal owners manual.

Where does the 254XP stand in the Husky classic saw lineup? Is it a "keeper" like the infamous 346XP or 372XP. I don't know much about this model.

Seriously though..my favorite firewood saw..and generally sought after. Personal preference aside, I think you'll love it. If you want to flip it, I'd love a shot at buying it. I have 2 and would get another..especially in the shape that one appears to be in. Congrats on an outstanding saw.

Thanks guy!! Given a choice of keeping a 359 or 254XP which is the better saw? (ignoring the power difference)

That's a personal choice between two excellent saws. I'd pick the 254 because I have a very soft spot for the 2xx series. The selfish part of me says keep the 359 and sell me your 254!...but that's not what you're asking. Cut with both for a bit, see which one YOU like better. Now if you had asked about a 254 vs a 357...

My Husky 254 and Jonsered 2159 are my go to firewood saws. The 254 has a slightly narrower power band than the 2159. A great set up for the 254 is an 18 inch bar with a .325 chain. The 2159 pulls 3/8 18 inch bar good. Both saws cut about the same rate as the 254 has more rpm. And yes the 254 is a keeper in my book. My 254 has put many trees on the ground and made blocks out of them.

hard to beat that kinda deal. Always a struggle for me, opportunity to flip and make some cash or keep because it was a good deal.

The 254 is the worst husky built you dont want it its junk. PM me and i'll give you my address so I can properly dispose of it.

That saw looks like brand new; I'm not used to seeing a 254 with stickers and a hood that isn't melted. Damn good saw. My father ran them for a few years. His only issue with them was it was a bit on the heavy side for his application, the 242/246 was better suited to his usage.
I would not hesitate to consider it a keeper. I have no experience with a 359 however.
