I dunno why, but in my early thirties I became very allergic to poison ivy. As a kid it never bothered me...... in fact I'd never had a single reaction till I was around 30. I found this growing in my yard...... and according to my internet research, its poison ivy. I would like a second opinion though !!

As a side note....... what do you use to kill it ???

Sorry I screwed up my poll by exceeding 100 characters in my mulitple choices and now I don't seem to be able to fix it. But...... the question remains....... :popcorn:

I'm getting all itchy just lookin at it...oh never mind, that's just the poison ivy I got three weeks ago. Don't kill that stuff with a weedeater for sure. Roundup or diesel, then keep it mowed short for a while. The grass should keep it choked out. I hate that stuff. Really clear pics btw.

Yup that is the stuff. I already picked up my fist case of the season snaking out a downed red oak. Thanks to the guy that invented Zanfel. I use Scythe or Brush b Gone mixed with diesel fuel. Knocks it down quick. Spray it when it is has not rained in a few days and is not supposed to rain for at least one more.

Anyone know if theres any real difference between the regular roundup, and the roundup specifically for poison ivy? I plan on buying something to spray them with tonight. I'm praying i didn't hit any of it today when I was weedwacking.:cry:

I have used both and the regular Roundup kills the plant you can see. Poison Ivy grows from runners underground so the regular stuff just kills of the one stalk. The Roundup for poison ivy has a longer active life and goes after the runners. Neither of the products are my prefered method.

Roundup is not very effective on woody plants. Garlon or Crossbow are far more effective at killing poison oak and poison ivy. And blackberry, and scotch broom, and...

Damn, I am getting all itchy looking at those photos.

Oh Yes it is!!!!! Zanfel kicks A$$ but can be pricey. Try the Rite-Aid store brand it's about $26 vs. $44 for brand name Zanfel.

Crossbow will keep the itch away:clap:

I use Goof Off latex paint remover, cut the oil & gets it off you skin{of course when the Goof Off hits you DNA, extra limbs & hair between you fingers & toes might be common}

zanfel is awesome!! just remember to wash EVERYTHING you came into contact with: bedding (sheets, pillow cases, clothing, furniture, seat of your car & steering wheel, etc..). Many people think that the oozing discharge from your skin is what causes it to spread but it is the urushiol oil that you continue to come into contact with that causes it to spread. The zanfel will get the oil out of your skin so that it can heal but you can very easily reinfect yourself without these steps. I've got it down to a science by this point. It will also manifest itself on the thinner skin first (inside of the arms for example). OK.. im off my soap box

Just go over there and try eating what OP posted as a luncheon delicacy. Then report back to the forum how well it tasted about four days after you consume all of it. I promise that I'll read every word.:dizzy:

Looks like Poison ivy to me. I have used garlon ultra to kill it. That seems pretty effective. When I got it in March I went to a walk in clinic and they gave me a steroid instead of a shot that seems to dry it out pretty quick, if you do get it.
