I have a chance to buy a John Deere 550cs saw, (UT10763).
I know nothing about this model except that it could be a Pro saw made by Homelite 1995 to 2002 ?????? I could not find any cross reference with a Homelite product on Mike Acre's site.........
engine size? reliability? weakness? years of production? anything would help.
Was told that the seller paid $800 in 2002 for that saw????????
Would be willing to make offer to the private seller but i need some guidance.
any info would be appreciated.....:)

Alain,
The 550CS is the same as the Homelite 8800. 88cc or 5.4 cu in. Very similar saw to the 540, but with numerous details that are different. 540 has open transfers, 8800 uses closed. 540 has thin rings, 8800 uses conventional rings. 540 has a plastic handle/tank assemblt, 8800 uses magnesium.

I'd definitiely jump on it if you can get a fair deal!
