Does it have gas in it? I think you should put some gas in it. Check the belt too.

Also check the coating on the thrust needle, It is known to go bad

I was just given a stihl 064 and I am having the same trouble, I pull and pull on the starter cord, and not even a pop. I checked the belt, pulled the muffler off and put in a new spark plug. A Bosch BTW. And still nothing....
I need this saw because I am going to tackle my first 48 inch oak on the weekend. The tree needs to come down as it is infested with ants and limbs are starting to fall off.

They were much sharper! There is a big difference between being a noob to saws, and being a complete bafoon.
