I picked up a reconditioned husky 440 from northern tool. Came with an 18” bar. I’d rather a 16 but it is what it is. Saw looked really clean. Only had a few scuffs on the bottom. So I gassed and oiled it up and it kinda ran like crap. It was really doggy. I warmed it up and it cleared up a bit so I started cutting. It had really low power so I decided to tune it. It got way better after the tune. I put one tank of gas through it. It seemed to get better as I used it.
I took the muffler off and opened up the hole under the deflector quite a bit. I haven’t tried it yet. Hopefully it helps a bit. The muffler is just an empty can do I don’t expect much gain if anything but I can’t not mess with things haha. I do think dropping to a 16 would help quite a bit on this little guy. I’ll put some more time on it this weekend. I wasn’t happy with it at first with how it was outta the box. Time will tell.
