Operator pulls the starter rope out a few inches so that when the saw is turned off the the starter does not engage the flywheel and pull the rope against the handle into the housing. Trying to avoid broken ropes, handles, and starter components.
Not a bad habit to have but not really needed on most new saws. If you are a still lover think Elasto. If you are a Husky nut think replacement parts.

I must admit if that were me the saw wood have been in the woods at about1:27 and there would have been running commentary starting at :37 but you would want to put the little ones to bed before watching:censored::bang::censored::bang:
So how come I've never seen that on any of the other chainsaw videos here on AS?
You would think the people who do that would get tired and start letting the saw do the work out of shear exhaustion:monkey:
