Makita 6401 24" bar?

Picked up a great buy on a Makita 6401 with 20" bar. Since this will be my big saw I want to put a 24" bar on it. Is 24" for this saw too big? Thanks.

I think it'll be just fine. You could run skip or semi skip chain if you're worried about it.

I ran a 24" bar on my ms361 for a while and it was just fine. Nothing to write home about, and you couldn't lean on it too hard, but it did the job.

You could go up to 28" on the 6401 and it will still pull just fine. The 6401 is much stronger than a stock 361 and ahead of most that are ported.

Thanks. I just cut firewood and this will just be in case we get a larger trunk. Only paid $200 and it starts on the second pull and sounds awesome. Have to pull muffler and look at piston but I think it will look great. Old guy said he only used it 4 or 5 times.
