If you can't get a genuine replacement, how about fashioning one out some beautiful wood? Keep the intact original on the hatchet and only replace the broken one, and turn it into a feature.

You can easily make replacement handles from knife scales if you have wood working skills. Micarta would be my first choice, very easy to work with and very durable.
